National Down Syndrome Awareness Month
October 1 – October 31 CDT
National Down Syndrome Awareness Month, observed in October and sponsored by the National Down Syndrome Society, is a chance to spread awareness about Down Syndrome. During the month of October, we celebrate people with Down Syndrome and make others aware of their abilities and accomplishments. It’s not about celebrating disabilities, it’s about celebrating abilities!
National Down Syndrome Awareness Month encourages those with Down Syndrome to speak out to educate others. People with Down Syndrome and their loved ones can spread awareness about Down Syndrome by going to their local Buddy Walk® and speaking out about their needs.
National Down Syndrome Awareness Month celebrates The Buddy Walk® in October, which was established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down Syndrome.
