National Career Development Month

November 1 November 30 CDT

National Career Development Month takes place in November and is sponsored by the National Career Development Association. NCDA established its first legislative agenda during the 2008 annual Global Conference in Washington, DC. Since then, NCDA has made public policy an important cornerstone of its work, as described in NCDA’s Philosophy on Public Policy: Advocating for Career Development.

National Career Development Association is represented in Washington, DC by the Government Relations Committee. The Committee’s members represent NCDA’s diverse membership. Its goal is to identify and advocate legislation and policies which support the mission of NCDA and its members.

While the Government Relations Committee monitors legislation and federal activities related to the major areas that affect members (elementary and secondary, career and technical, and higher education; veterans support; and labor and workforce issues), NCDA encourages obtaining more detailed or direct information from the following sources:

Congressional Committees

For education, labor and workforce issues: House Education and Workforce Committee

Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee: www.help.senate.gov

For veterans issues: House Veterans’ Affairs Committee: www. veterans.house.gov

Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee: www.veterans.senate.gov
