Gum Disease Awareness Month
February 1, 2025 – February 28, 2025 CST
Observe Gum Disease Awareness Month during the month of February.
Gum Disease Awareness Month in a national and global effort to raise public awareness of gum disease. The Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry launched this awareness program in 2012. This organization is a non-profit educational and research center dedicated to providing evidence-based clinical training in advanced laser dentistry therapies.
The goal of Gum Disease Awareness Month is to continually raise awareness of the prevalence of gum disease and consequences of untreated disease. Patients are also encouraged to take an active role in better oral health through prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
Oral health care is an essential service and maintaining good oral health is critical to overall health. During this period of pandemic, however, patients may be reluctant to visit their dentist. For over 40 years, CDC’s Division of Oral Health has been providing guidelines and recommendations to reduce transmission of infections in dental healthcare settings.
Dental Infection Control Awareness Month
Health care personnel work to keep their patients, community, and themselves safe during a dental visit. September is Dental Infection Control Awareness Month. During this time, raise awareness of these critical guidelines that dental health care personnel follow every day.
