National Child Abuse Prevention Month
April 1, 2021 – April 30, 2021 CDT
National Child Abuse Prevention Month, observed during the month of April, calls attention to child abuse, the need for prevention, and spurs advocacy on behalf of those suffering from the emotional and physical impact of child abuse and neglect.
National Child Abuse Prevention Month educates people that physical injury is not the only negative impact of abuse and neglect; Child abuse and neglect can also affect broader health outcomes, mental health, social development, and risk-taking behavior into adolescence and adulthood. Child abuse and neglect includes all types of abuse or neglect of a child under the age of 18 by a parent or caregiver that results in harm or potential harm.
