National Mentoring Month
January 1 – January 31 CST
National Mentoring Month is the largest-scale mentoring campaign nationwide, recognized by each sitting American president since its inception. It culminates each year with the National Mentoring Summit.
National Mentoring Month was launched by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership. This year will reflect on the incredible growth of the mentoring movement, recognize the real life mentoring relationships that form and thrive each day, and offer opportunities to thank the mentors who inspired us. Volunteering as a mentor or becoming an informal mentor to a young person you know is a valuable step in igniting the mentoring effect in your community.
In addition, there are many other ways in which we can all become mentor mobilizers. From donating to a mentoring program to asking your elected officials to support public funding for those programs, to working with your school district to incorporate mentoring, or getting your company to participate in a mentoring program. Search the Mentoring Connector to find opportunities to volunteer as a mentor in your area.
