Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month
For years, Personalized Cause® has proudly supported the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Orange County, California. We provided pink ribbons, pink wristbands, and pink personalized pins to help spread awareness. As partners with the Orange County affiliate, we created Komen-branded merchandise that encouraged education and advocacy. These items served as symbols of strength, unity, and hope for all affected by breast cancer.
Honoring Survivors and Advancing the Mission
Through our partnership, we became personally connected to many breast cancer survivors. Their stories continue to inspire us. Komen survivors live the foundation’s mission: to end breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening, and treatment. The Komen Foundation now has affiliates in cities across the globe, working tirelessly to raise awareness and save lives.

KNOW MORE® Pink Wristbands
During our partnership with the Susan G. Komen Foundation, we created the first KNOW MORE® pink wristbands. These wristbands carried two messages. First, the need to KNOW MORE about breast cancer. Second, the demand for NO MORE – a world without breast cancer.
This pink awareness wristband, one of the first of its kind, appeared in People Magazine® alongside the famous LIVESTRONG® bracelet. Today, pink wristbands remain on our Personalized Cause® website to raise awareness. For years, our KNOW MORE® bracelets have been worn proudly during Breast Cancer Awareness Month each October. The line has now expanded into many colors, representing multiple causes.
The Significance of the Pink Ribbon
Every October, the pink ribbon draws attention to the importance of early detection. Department stores hand out pink fabric ribbons with safety pins at cosmetics counters. Survivors, advocates, and supporters wear pink pins on jackets, hats, or ties. Men wear them to honor wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends touched by breast cancer. Pink ribbons represent global efforts to fight this disease and support those in treatment or recovery.
Who Does Breast Cancer Affect?
Breast cancer affects both women and men. While rare, men can get breast cancer too. The rate is about one in 833 men over a lifetime. Black men face a worse prognosis than white men, reflecting health care disparities. Personalized Cause® offers a Kente cloth and pink ribbon pin to highlight inequities. We also feature a male breast cancer pin in pink and blue to spread awareness.
Male Breast Cancer Awareness
The pink and blue ribbon designates male breast cancer awareness. Personalized Cause® offers this ribbon in both personalized and non-personalized pins. Many men dismiss early symptoms, leading to late diagnoses. While education and research have improved survival rates, men still face worse outcomes compared to women. Raising awareness helps men recognize symptoms earlier.
BRCA Genes and Hereditary Breast Cancer
Everyone has BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes. But mutations increase the risk of breast and ovarian cancers. Ashkenazi Jewish women have a higher mutation rate—about one in forty. If one parent carries the mutation, there is a 50% chance of passing it on. Personalized Cause® highlights this risk with pink and teal awareness ribbons for hereditary breast cancer.
Help Raise Awareness for Breast Cancer
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Wear a pink ribbon to show support and start conversations. Personalized Cause® offers personalized awareness ribbon pins with names, dates, or messages. These pins put a face on the disease and remind others of its personal.
