KNOW MORE® Wristbands and The History Behind Them

The Rise of Awareness Wristbands

In 2004, Livestrong® yellow wristbands sparked a global trend. Soon after, Personalized Cause® introduced our KNOW MORE® wristbands. The movement grew quickly. People Magazine® even called us to feature our wristbands in a story about trending products. In the photo, four new cause bands appeared alongside the iconic yellow bracelet—and ours was one of them. Rubber wristbands had officially arrived as a powerful awareness tool.

KNOW MORE® and Breast Cancer Awareness

At the time, we partnered with the Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in Southern California. Pink KNOW MORE® wristbands were included in Race for the Cure survivor gift bags. Survivors loved them. The bands were fun, lightweight, durable, and easy to wear every day. They became a bold way to show support during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In the years that followed, Race for the Cure evolved into Susan G. Komen for the Cure, but the message stayed strong: awareness saves lives, and symbols of support matter.

Personalized Cause® and the KNOW MORE® Wristband

Twenty years later, KNOW MORE® wristbands are still going strong. Personalized Cause® now offers them in over thirty colors, supporting countless conditions and causes. People often ask if wristbands are still effective after all this time. The answer is simple: yes. At only $1 each, they remain a staple for fundraising events, campaigns, and school drives. They are recognizable, affordable, and powerful symbols of awareness.

The History of Awareness Wristbands

Awareness wristbands gained momentum with the Livestrong® campaign in May 2004. Yellow was chosen to represent both the Tour de France leader’s jersey and the yellow ribbons tied around trees to welcome soldiers home. Backed by Nike, the campaign raised over $500 million for cancer research. Yellow wristbands became a cultural symbol of support and resilience.

The Wristband Craze

By the end of 2004, everyone wore a wristband. The Make Poverty History campaign used white bands. Celebrities like Brad Pitt and Kate Moss joined in, fueling the trend. Soon, charities worldwide created custom silicone bracelets embossed with their slogans. Many people wore two or three at once to show support for multiple causes. Wristbands quickly became a global fundraising icon.

Pink KNOW MORE® for Breast Cancer Awareness

Personalized Cause® introduced KNOW MORE® wristbands with a unique play on words. “NO MORE” meant ending diseases like cancer, lupus, diabetes, and asthma. “KNOW MORE” urged education and awareness. Pink KNOW MORE® bands became a favorite during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The message remains timeless: awareness and education drive change.

A Perfect Tool for Nonprofits

KNOW MORE® wristbands are ideal for nonprofits, schools, corporations, and community events. They are low-cost, lightweight, and easy to distribute. From charity walks to sports events, these bracelets keep causes visible. Just like lapel ribbons, silicone wristbands have staying power. They remain one of the most effective tools for raising awareness and funds today.
