LGBTQ+ Suicide Awareness
Raise Awareness About LGBTQ+ Suicide Prevention
Start a conversation that matters. Our suicide prevention awareness pin honors and supports the LGBTQ+ community. Awareness saves lives—and every voice makes a difference.
Every 40 seconds, someone dies by suicide. For LGBTQ+ individuals, the risk is even higher. Stigma, discrimination, lack of support, and barriers to care all play a role. LGBTQ+ youth, in particular, face disproportionately high rates of suicidal thoughts and attempts.
Wearing a suicide awareness ribbon pin is more than a gesture. It’s a statement of solidarity, compassion, and action. It says: You are not alone. You are valued. You are loved.
Why Suicide Awareness Matters in the LGBTQ+ Community
LGBTQ+ people, especially youth, are at higher risk for depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. Research shows:
LGBTQ+ youth are over four times more likely to attempt suicide than their straight or cisgender peers.
Transgender and nonbinary youth face even greater risk, especially without affirmation and support.
Acceptance, safe environments, and inclusive mental health care dramatically reduce that risk.
These aren’t just numbers. They are lives—friends, family, and loved ones. Raising awareness helps break silence, challenge stigma, and create safer, more supportive communities.
Our Awareness Pin Supports Action
The suicide awareness ribbon—teal and purple—represents hope and prevention. Wearing it shows support for LGBTQ+ suicide awareness and sparks meaningful conversations. Use it to:
Honor lives lost to suicide
Support LGBTQ+ individuals who may be struggling
Start conversations at school, work, events, or in daily life
Promote mental health resources and inclusive care
At Personalized Cause®, you can customize your pin with a name, date, or message. Wear it in memory of someone lost or in honor of someone still fighting.
Raise Your Voice—Save a Life
Whether you’re an ally, advocate, survivor, or part of the LGBTQ+ community, you can make a difference. Visibility, compassion, and education save lives.
Together, we can build a world where everyone feels safe, supported, and loved—no matter who they are or who they love.
Wear your suicide prevention awareness pin with pride, purpose, and hope.

June Is Pride Month: Advocate for LGBTQ+ Suicide Awareness and Prevention
June is a time to celebrate LGBTQ+ lives, uplift their stories, and honor their resilience. But Pride is also a call to action. Mental health struggles remain high in the LGBTQ+ community, and suicide prevention must be part of the conversation.
Awareness matters. Conversation matters. And you can make a difference.
How You Can Help
The question is often asked: What can I do? The answer is simple but powerful—educate, advocate, and support. Each of us plays a role in reducing stigma, increasing visibility, and creating safer spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals.
Whether you’re a parent, friend, teacher, coworker, or ally, the first step is understanding.
Understanding the Crisis
Suicide rates in the U.S. rose 33% from 1999 to 2019. More than 45,000 lives were lost in 2019 alone. While suicide affects all groups, LGBTQ+ people face a higher risk.
LGBTQ+ youth are 3.5 times more likely to attempt suicide than their straight peers.
LGBTQ+ adults are twice as likely to consider or attempt suicide compared to straight adults.
In 2020, nearly 28,000 LGBTQ+ youth reported frequent suicidal thoughts.
These aren’t just statistics. They represent real people—teens afraid to come out, trans adults denied care, and individuals who feel unseen in their own communities. Pride Month must go beyond rainbows. It must spark real change.
Ways to Support the LGBTQ+ Community
Small actions save lives.
Talk openly about mental health and suicide prevention.
Share resources and crisis hotlines on social media.
Support LGBTQ+ organizations that provide affirming care.
Challenge anti-LGBTQ+ language and behavior.
Be a safe person. Let others know they can talk to you without judgment.
Learn the signs that someone may be in crisis.
Know the Risk Factors and Warning Signs
LGBTQ+ people often face “minority stress”—chronic stress from stigma and discrimination. This increases the risk of depression and suicide.
Risk factors include: trauma, bullying, major life changes, untreated mental illness, substance use, health problems, isolation, or family rejection.
Warning signs include: withdrawal, mood swings, hopelessness, changes in sleep or eating, self-hate, or talk of being a burden.
If you see these signs, act. Reach out. Listen with compassion. Encourage professional help. A single conversation can save a life.
Advocacy and Visibility Save Lives
Advocacy is love in action. Research shows affirming environments reduce suicide risk. That support can come from family, friends, teachers, coworkers—even strangers.
Acceptance is suicide prevention.
Wear a Ribbon. Spark Change.
Symbols matter. A suicide awareness ribbon in teal and purple sends a powerful message: every life matters. During Pride Month, you can also wear a rainbow ribbon to show LGBTQ+ support.
At Personalized Cause®, our pins can be personalized with a name, date, or message. Combine ribbons to honor both suicide prevention and LGBTQ+ pride. A small ribbon can start a big conversation.
