World Lung Cancer Day

World Lung Cancer Day – August 1

Every year on August 1, we observe World Lung Cancer Day. The day raises awareness, honors those affected, and pushes for early detection and treatment. It’s a time to educate, remember, and support millions of people living with lung cancer—or grieving its loss.

Lung cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in the world. It remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Too often, doctors catch it late, when treatment is harder. Early detection changes outcomes. When found early, treatment works better, and survival rates rise.

Show Solidarity with a White or Pearl Ribbon

World Lung Cancer Day also stands as a day of solidarity. Patients, survivors, caregivers, and healthcare professionals fight this disease daily. We honor their strength and support their work. Sharing resources, funding research, or simply wearing a ribbon makes a real difference.

The awareness color for lung cancer is pearl, with white as an alternative. At Personalized Cause®, we proudly offer both pearl and white enamel ribbon pins. Choose personalized or standard pins to show support, remembrance, and hope.

Join us this August 1. Wear a ribbon. Share the facts. Support the fight. Together, we can raise awareness and save lives.

What is Lung Cancer?

Lung cancer develops when abnormal cells grow uncontrollably in the lungs. These cells can invade nearby tissue and spread to other organs such as the brain, liver, or bones. Early diagnosis and treatment greatly improve outcomes.

There are three main types:

  • Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC): The most common type (85%). Slower-growing, often treated with surgery or targeted therapies.

  • Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC): Fast-growing and aggressive, making chemotherapy and radiation the main treatments.

  • Lung Carcinoid Tumors: Rare and usually slow-growing, but some can be more aggressive.

Causes Beyond Smoking

While smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer, it’s not the only risk factor. Secondhand smoke, asbestos, radon gas, air pollution, and genetic mutations also contribute. Thousands of non-smokers are diagnosed with lung cancer every year. Occupational exposure—especially to asbestos—is a significant risk.

Pearl and White Ribbons for Lung Cancer

Pearl is the official lung cancer awareness color, with white also widely recognized. At Personalized Cause®, we offer:

  • Pearl Enamel Awareness Pins – Personalized or non-personalized.

  • Awareness Fabric Ribbons – With or without personalization.

  • KNOW MORE® Wristbands – A clever way to promote awareness and education.

These awareness products honor loved ones, support survivors, and spark life-saving conversations.

Stand Together on World Lung Cancer Day

On August 1, wear a pearl or white ribbon. Share educational resources. Encourage screenings for those at risk. Each action helps raise awareness and supports the millions of people living with lung cancer.

At Personalized Cause®, we believe awareness leads to action—and action saves lives. Join us this World Lung Cancer Day and help make every breath count.
